Preparing Californian To Sail North

Entry date 7/05/2008

It may look like we're watering San Diego Bay...

The Bay is not being filled. We've been busy preparing the Californian - official tall ship of California - to sail North as an ambassador and a representative of ships that have worked on the world' oceans. Our volunteer and staff divers have been busy cleaning California's hull - an occasionally we give them a drink of fresh water to get the salt out of their mouths. No one wants to be around a sailor with a salty mouth...

Above is a picture of Mark, getting a little fresh water. Below is a picture of Mr. Sutherland, our Bosun. He's also a Captain on the Californian.

(do you think he'd mind if we threw some squid in the water while he's diving under Californian?)

Diving is just one of a 101 jobs we perform as we maintain and sail our ships. We have a steam yacht, tall ships, the Pilot boat that worked on San Diego Bay for many years, and the San Francisco Ferry Boat Berkeley.
